Sofia is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Economics at SOAS, University of London and her research interests focus around South-South trade, Global Production Networks and industrial development in emerging countries. She is currently conducting an extensive case study on the main drivers and effects of import competition in the South African mining equipment value chain. Prior to joining SOAS, she has worked as an Economist at the Trade and Markets Division of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization.
